Tenafly Veterinary Center is proud to offer the HT Vista — the first artificial intelligence-powered skin cancer screening device for dogs. With half of all dogs over age 10 developing cancer (one-third of which is skin-related), early detection is critical. The HT Vista delivers 40-second, needle-free screening with results in 2 minutes — giving you answers today, not weeks from now.
Why Early Cancer Detection Matters
Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over 10 years old. Early detection dramatically improves prognosis and expands treatment options. When skin masses are identified and evaluated early, outcomes are significantly better and treatment is typically less invasive and less expensive. Yet most pet owners delay investigation of lumps because traditional biopsies require anesthesia, needles, and lab submission — until now.
How the HT Vista Works
The HT Vista uses Heat Diffusion Imaging (HDI) technology to non-invasively analyze a skin mass. The process works because healthy and unhealthy tissue respond differently when gently warmed — they have different structures, metabolic rates, and blood supply patterns. The device:
- Gently heats the mass by just 6–7 degrees using an LED light (completely safe and comfortable)
- Monitors the thermal activity of the tissue as it cools
- Transmits data to an AI algorithm trained on thousands of canine skin mass cases
- Returns a score of 1–10 and a percentage probability that the mass is benign — in just 2 minutes
A score of 10 indicates 99% probability of benign. A score of 4 indicates 89% probability. Scores between 1–4 indicate that further sampling (fine needle aspirate, biopsy, or removal) is recommended.
The HT Vista Appointment Process
- Call us at 201-567-7878 to schedule a skin cancer screening appointment
- A full physical exam is performed and the location(s) of concern are identified
- Your dog is admitted for a few hours for scanning (fur must be clipped from the scan site)
- Scans are performed and scores are reviewed with you
- Low-scoring masses can be discussed for fine needle aspirate, biopsy, or surgical removal
