What to Expect
Arrival & Welcome: You'll be greeted with compassion and brought directly to a private room — no waiting in the general lobby.
Sedation: Your dog receives a sedative injection, gently falling into a peaceful sleep over several minutes. You can hold and comfort them throughout this time.
The Final Moment: Once fully sedated, the veterinarian administers the euthanasia solution. Your dog passes peacefully and painlessly within seconds.
Private Time: You are welcome to stay with your dog for as long as you need. There is no rush.
Finding Comfort After Goodbye
Grief doesn’t simply disappear once an appointment ends. The loss of a dog can feel just as devastating as losing a family member, bringing about a complex mixture of sadness, guilt, and emptiness that may come all at once or ebb and flow over time.
We recognize that pet loss is a deeply personal experience that warrants the same compassion, understanding, and care as any other significant loss. To support you through this difficult journey, we provide dog euthanasia services in Tenafly, including guidance on accessing grief resources, conversation guides to help you talk with children about their feelings, and a welcoming space to talk with us whenever you need to.
We wholeheartedly encourage families to take all the time they require to mourn, to find their own meaningful ways to honor their beloved dog’s memory. The treasured memories, the paw prints left behind, the gentle warmth of a favorite spot in the home, these remain long after the loss. They serve as lasting reminders of love, loyalty, and a life beautifully lived.
