In-House Laboratory

Our on-site laboratory eliminates the wait associated with external labs. Results are available within the same visit, which is critical in emergencies and allows us to begin treatment immediately. We use our in-house laboratory for both emergency diagnostics and routine annual wellness testing.

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC): Measures red cells, white cells, and platelets to identify infection, inflammation, anemia, and some cancers

Compared to traditional dental X-rays, our CT scan reduces anesthesia time by 15–20 minutes and provides significantly more detail — a major safety and clinical advantage for your pet.

Digital Radiography (X-Ray)

Digital X-ray is one of the most versatile diagnostic tools available. At Tenafly Veterinary Center, our advanced digital radiography equipment allows our team to evaluate the heart, lungs, abdominal organs, and skeletal system quickly and without the discomfort of traditional film X-rays. Digital X-rays can identify tumors, bone fractures, organ enlargement, and foreign bodies — often within minutes of a concern being raised.

Pet Ultrasound

Ultrasound imaging uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of your pet's internal organs — safely, without radiation. Ultrasound is particularly effective for examining the abdomen (liver, spleen, kidneys, bladder, reproductive organs) and for guiding biopsies or fluid sampling. It is non-invasive and typically well-tolerated without sedation.

Echocardiography (Heart Ultrasound)

When cardiac disease is suspected, our team can perform an echocardiogram — a real-time ultrasound of the heart — to evaluate heart size, wall thickness, valve function, and blood flow. Echocardiograms are painless and non-invasive, and can detect birth defects, heart disease, cardiac tumors, and some heartworm infections.

Endoscopy

We offer both flexible and rigid endoscopy services. Flexible endoscopes allow us to retrieve foreign bodies from the upper gastrointestinal tract (coins, toys, rings) and perform biopsies without surgery. Rigid endoscopes are used to examine nasal passages in patients with chronic nasal disease. Most endoscopic procedures are same-day and minimally invasive.
