Overpeck Creek Animal Hospital is proud to offer HT Vista—the first AI-powered skin cancer screening device for dogs. With nearly half of dogs over age 10 developing cancer, and many cases involving the skin, early detection is essential. HT Vista provides a fast, needle-free screening in just 40 seconds, with results available in about 2 minutes—so you get answers right away, not weeks later.
The Importance of Early Cancer Detection
Cancer is the leading cause of death in dogs over the age of 10. Early detection can greatly improve outcomes and open the door to more treatment options. When skin masses are identified and evaluated early, care is often less invasive, more effective, and more affordable. However, many pet owners delay evaluating lumps due to the need for anesthesia, needles, and lab testing with traditional biopsies—until now.
How the HT Vista Works
HT Vista uses Heat Diffusion Imaging (HDI) technology to non-invasively evaluate skin masses. This approach works because healthy and abnormal tissues respond differently to gentle warming, due to variations in structure, metabolism, and blood flow. The device:
- Gently warms the mass by 6–7 degrees using an LED light—safe, comfortable, and non-invasive
- Tracks how the tissue responds as it cools, capturing thermal activity
- Analyzes the data using an AI algorithm trained on thousands of canine skin mass cases
- Provides a score from 1–10 along with the probability of the mass being benign—all within about 2 minutes
A score of 10 indicates a 99% likelihood that the mass is benign, while a score of 4 reflects an 89% probability. Scores ranging from 1–4 suggest that further evaluation—such as a fine needle aspirate, biopsy, or removal—is recommended.
