When a Specialist Referral is Needed
Specialist referrals are recommended when a condition requires subspecialty training, specific equipment, or advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities not available in general veterinary practice. Common reasons we refer include:

When we refer your pet to a specialist, we send a complete summary of their medical history, diagnostic results, and our clinical notes directly to the receiving practice. You will not need to start over — the specialist will have full context from day one. We remain involved in your pet's care throughout the specialist process and are available to discuss findings and coordinate follow-up treatment.
